Gennaker

A large asymmetric downwind headsail.

How to sign

Use Both curved-C hands, palms facing each other. The base or passive hand is Established boat and mast locus; no separate passive hand. Set a forward sail area ahead of the mast. Begin with curved-C hands close together. Widen both hands outward; carry the outer hand farther from the centerline to create an asymmetric rounded sail. Hold the enlarged forward sail; add the project WIND-BACK modifier only when downwind meaning is required. Place a large, rounded asymmetric sail forward of the mast: both curved-C hands widen outward, with the outer hand farther from the centerline. Add DOWNWIND/WIND-AT-BACK when needed.
