ICe Yachts ICE 70 rs
About this yacht
The ICe Yachts ICE 70 rs represents a compelling evolution in performance cruising—a 21.30-meter carbon racer-cruiser that bridges the gap between serious regatta capability and comfortable bluewater passage-making. Launched in 2022 as the racing-oriented successor to the acclaimed ICE 70, this sailing yacht delivers the kind of speed and handling that turns heads at events like the Rolex Cup while maintaining the livability required for extended cruising. Developed by Umberto Felci's studio in collaboration with ICe Yachts' technical team, the ICE 70 rs builds on the success of the yard's ICE 52, incorporating lessons learned from over 18 units of that popular model. The result is a fast cruiser with exceptional space utilization, contemporary styling, and interior design that prioritizes guest comfort without sacrificing performance. The hull and deck are carbon fiber, vacuum-infused from female molds and bonded into a monolithic structure that eliminates the creaks and flexing common to mechanically fastened construction. Bulkheads laminated directly into the hull create rigidity capable of handling the loads imposed during hard offshore sailing or competitive racing. Structural carbon tanks integrated beneath the saloon sole, a heavily soundproofed engine room with dual door seals, and meticulous attention to weight distribution reflect the thoughtful engineering throughout. Hydrodynamically, the ICE 70 rs features a variable-draft lifting keel with Cariboni hydraulics, adjustable from 2.80 meters to approximately 4.40 meters. This allows the yacht to access shallow anchorages while delivering deep-keel performance when conditions demand it. The CNC-machined lead torpedo and high-aspect fin minimize displacement while maximizing righting moment, reducing heel underway and roll at anchor. Performance figures validate the design: the yacht achieves 8 knots upwind and exceeds 10 knots on reaching angles under sail. Under power from her 200-horsepower engine with proper shaft disengagement, she cruises comfortably above 11 knots—impressive for a 21-meter sailboat and useful when weather windows matter. The deck layout reflects its dual-purpose brief. A scimitar bow with 1.9-meter carbon bowsprit and Volvo Open 70-inspired transom provide the visual cues, while the oversized cockpit with wraparound seating and comfortable coaming backrests accommodates large crews during regattas or relaxed family cruising. The garage deserves particular mention—sized to carry a 3.8-meter tender fully inflated, it rivals facilities found on 24-meter yachts. Electric winches handle both the garage door and tender deployment. The carbon rig comes standard with a Park Avenue boom, simplifying sail handling during shorthanded passages or quick maneuvers. The forged carbon rudder shaft, cured at seven bar pressure and 145 degrees, with its carbon blade, provides precise control even under heavy heel or aerodynamic loading. Below deck, the standard layout offers four cabins and three heads, with an open galley arrangement and owner's suite that genuinely deserves the designation. Lightweight composite panels reduce weight without compromising joinery quality, and crew accommodation reflects modern thinking rather than outdated compromises. CE Category A certified for ocean passages, the ICE 70 rs accommodates up to 12 guests and represents the natural choice for owners seeking a performance cruiser capable of competitive racing and confident offshore sailing in equal measure.
