Outremer Yachts
French blue-water sailing catamarans designed around lightness, seaworthiness and short-handed use.
Outremer is a French builder of blue-water sailing catamarans, founded in La Grande-Motte in 1983. Its brand material describes a design approach based on lightness, seakindliness and boats intended to be handled by the people already aboard. The current range begins with the Outremer 45 and 4X, then moves through 48, 52, 57 and 64; its model archive also retains the 51, 55 and 5X.
Outremer's bluewater catamarans are presented around lightness and short-handed sailing. The current range extends from the 45 and 4X to the 64, with meaningful differences in space, crew demands and passage capability.
The owner should decide how much sailing performance can be prioritised without compromising the accommodation and systems needed for the route. Weight, helm arrangements, storage and maintenance access on the selected Outremer are central to that balance during longer voyages. A lighter boat can reward an active crew, but the storage and equipment decisions for long voyages should be made deliberately to preserve that character.
