Dutch aluminium sailing catamarans from R4 to R8, combining owner customisation with electric, hybrid or diesel propulsion options.

VAAN Yachts is a Dutch builder of aluminium sailing catamarans based in Hellevoetsluis. The current range is organised as R4, R5, R6 and R8, from 12.80 to 23.80 metres. The company presents aluminium construction, open sailing-focused cockpits and a balance between luxury use and environmental intent as central themes.

All four are part of the current official range, and the factory’s 2026 update addresses the same four models. The R4 page demonstrates how detailed configuration can be: it describes electric saildrives as a specification but also shows layout, spoiler and centreboard choices. Larger models carry their own number of cabins, deck layouts, propulsion options and owner choices.

VAAN's R4-to-R8 aluminium sailing catamarans combine owner choices with electric, hybrid or diesel propulsion options. The range grows from 12.80 to 23.80 metres, so crew demands and onboard capacity change appreciably.

An owner should decide the balance of sail-driven passages, accommodation and energy autonomy required for the intended route. The chosen model's rig, cockpit, cabins and propulsion configuration then determine whether its environmental and cruising ambitions are practical for that programme. Electric, hybrid and diesel options carry different maintenance and energy-storage consequences, while the larger R models introduce different berthing and crew demands. These operating differences should be considered before cabin finishes and other personal choices.
