Sailing as close to the wind as possible, roughly 30–45 degrees off it.

How to sign

Use Dominant flat-B: boat classifier; other hand may show sail close to centerline. The base or passive hand is WIND locus established; no separate passive hand required. Set WIND. Angle boat bow narrowly off WIND, not directly into it. Keep a small visible angle and place sail near centerline. Hold the small angle, clearly narrower than BEAM REACH. Establish WIND. Angle the boat's bow narrowly off the wind, not directly into it, and place the sail close to the centerline. Keep the angle visibly smaller than a beam reach.
