Wider Moonflower 72
About this yacht
The Wider Moonflower 72 represents a new benchmark in superyacht design, where architectural purity meets environmental responsibility. Scheduled for delivery in 2026, this 72-metre displacement motor yacht emerges from the partnership between Wider and Nauta Design as a study in refined proportions and purposeful engineering. Clean horizontal lines define the exterior profile, while extensive glazing dissolves the boundaries between interior and exterior spaces. The chamfered sheer line amidships introduces visual momentum to an otherwise serene silhouette. Every element serves a function; nothing is ornamental. The result is a motor yacht that achieves visual lightness despite its substantial 72-metre length, accommodating up to 24 guests in seamless comfort. At the heart of the Wider Moonflower 72 lies Wider's latest hybrid propulsion technology. Twin variable-speed generators from MAN Energy Solutions, each producing 1,860 kW, work in concert with a substantial sodium nickel battery bank of approximately 1 MW/h from FZSoNick. This configuration optimizes energy production at the lowest consumption points, reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 20%. The endothermic engines accept both HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) and methanol, aligning with Wider's net-zero trajectory. Heat recovery systems redirect waste thermal energy from the electric propulsion to service all hot-water requirements and onboard amenities, maximizing operational efficiency across every system. The Island Beach Club concept, patented by Nauta Design, transforms the aft section into an unprecedented waterfront environment. Multiple fold-down platforms expand the swim platform and beach club to cover 117 square metres, creating a continuous perimeter walkway around the stern. Indoor and outdoor zones flow into one another without thresholds, offering uninterrupted access to the sea—a rare achievement on a superyacht of this scale. Throughout the Wider Moonflower 72, design choices prioritize the connection between guests and the marine environment. Uncluttered spaces, balanced proportions, and the deliberate absence of superfluous detailing maintain focus on what matters: the experience of being at sea aboard a thoroughly modern explorer yacht.
