The Wider 165 represents a fundamental shift in superyacht design, where diesel-electric propulsion and intelligent architecture create possibilities that traditional engine configurations simply cannot match. At just under 50 metres, this motor yacht delivers the volume and capability typically found in vessels 10 metres longer. Her serial hybrid propulsion system positions the power generator room forward in the bow, while lithium polymer batteries occupy a technical space in the stern. This unconventional layout eliminates the central engine room entirely, freeing the hull's most stable zone for guest accommodation. Flexible wiring transfers power to azimuthal thrusters, replacing rigid drive shafts and allowing the yacht's designers to prioritize liveable space over mechanical necessity. The result is a beach club with dimensions that rival yachts significantly larger. Two side platforms descend to water level, while the main hangar houses an 8-metre saltwater pool. This space accommodates a Wider 32 tender and a three-person submarine, with a floating launch system that simplifies deployment and retrieval. The upper deck helipad converts to a dance floor, extending the yacht's versatility. Wide floor-to-ceiling windows wrap the main deck lounges, flooding the interiors with natural light and opening unobstructed views to the surrounding seascape. The owner's suite spans the full beam with two private balconies. The main deck includes a gym and sauna alongside the primary salon. The upper deck features a sky lounge and dining area with retractable sliding doors that blur the boundary between interior and exterior. Four guest cabins on the lower deck include two VIP doubles and two twins, all with ensuite facilities. Crew quarters meet LY3 standards, with four twin cabins, a crew mess, and a captain's cabin on the upper deck adjacent to the wheelhouse. The layout positions crew areas away from guest spaces while maintaining direct access to technical zones. The power management system, developed with Nidec Industrial Solutions, coordinates shore power, generators, and battery packs, distributing energy to hotel functions, propulsion, and recharge systems as needed. The yacht operates in Zero Emission Mode on battery power alone, cruising silently at 5 knots—ideal for early departures or approaching protected anchorages without disturbing the surroundings. With generators engaged, she reaches 14 knots maximum speed, with a range of 3,100 nautical miles at 13 knots cruising speed, extending to 5,400 nautical miles at 10 knots. This modular propulsion architecture delivers tangible advantages: reduced fuel consumption, extended range, minimal draft, lower noise and vibration, and simplified maintenance. The Wider 165 doesn't compromise performance for sustainability—it achieves both through engineering that rethinks how a superyacht should be built.
