Y Yachts Y7
About this yacht
The Y Yachts Y7 stands as one of the most proven sailing yachts in the modern performance cruiser segment. With over 20 hulls delivered since 2019, this 21.99-meter carbon epoxy yacht has earned its reputation among discerning owners who demand both effortless handling and superyacht-level refinement. Designed in collaboration with judel/vrolijk & co, the Y7 represents a thoughtful evolution rather than a radical departure. Her lightweight carbon construction delivers responsive performance even in light air—a defining characteristic that sets her apart from heavier GRP cruising sailboats. The advanced composite structure reduces loads throughout the rig and deck hardware, enabling short-handed operation without compromising capability in bluewater conditions. She holds CE Category A certification for offshore passages. The redesigned cockpit introduces an asymmetric entrance with increased separation between helm consoles and winches, creating clearer pathways for crew movement under sail. A new U-shaped sofa on the starboard side enhances comfort during coastal cruising or spirited daysailing. Below, the engine room has been relocated from beneath the saloon to a dedicated technical space with dual access points, including direct entry from the crew area—a practical refinement that improves both maintenance access and interior volume. The crew companionway remains elegantly integrated into the cockpit architecture, nearly invisible at first glance while providing direct access to helm stations. This thoughtful separation ensures privacy for owners and guests while enabling crew to work efficiently and discreetly. Y Yachts' modular 3D engineering approach extends throughout the yacht. Each module arrives with integrated technology and wiring harnesses, ensuring systematic installation and transparent technical layouts. This philosophy of simplification—equipping the yacht only with essential systems—reduces complexity, minimizes potential failures, and makes the Y7 genuinely manageable for owner-operators. The interior design, a collaboration between Francesca Modica and Danish architect David Thulstrup, offers four distinct aesthetic directions. Milano combines warm earth tones with brushed oak and bronze accents. Baltic features soft sand tones with light matte wood for Nordic clarity. Sugi Ban contrasts charred wood surfaces with warm greys in homage to Japanese preservation techniques. Glacier presents cool neutrals with pale oak for understated elegance. Layout versatility defines the accommodation plan. The forward owner's suite features a free-standing bed, dual wardrobes, and en-suite facilities. Amidships, the saloon provides a dining area to starboard and lounge seating to port, with a U-shaped galley opposite an L-shaped relaxation zone. Aft, the standard configuration includes a crew mess and two twin guest cabins with en-suite heads. Alternatively, owners may specify a spacious VIP suite in place of the crew mess and starboard guest cabin, transforming the yacht into a three-cabin layout optimized for extended cruising with minimal crew. The Y Yachts Y7 delivers what many performance cruisers promise but few achieve: genuine racing yacht responsiveness combined with the comfort and finish expected aboard vessels twice her length.
