Tack / jibe — select maneuver

A wind-crossing maneuver: tack is bow-first and jibe is stern-first.

How to sign

Use Dominant flat-B: boat classifier; dominant flat-B/1-hand: boom for JIBE. The base or passive hand is WIND locus established; no passive hand required. Set WIND and boat. Choose one variant before signing: TACK or JIBE. TACK: pivot bow through WIND. JIBE: carry stern through WIND and show boom crossing once. Hold the boat on its new side of WIND. Do not use an unspecified generic TURN. Establish WIND and the boat. For TACK, pivot the bow through the wind; for JIBE, move the stern through the wind and show the boom crossing. Do not use one generic lexical TURN without specifying which maneuver.
