Damen Maaskant combines 75 years of shipbuilding experience with dedicated repair, refit and conversion capability in the Netherlands. Its role can begin with technical condition assessment and drydocking preparation, continue through machinery, piping, steel, electrical and outfitting works, and extend to survey, class and inspection readiness.

01 — Initial assessment and refit vision
LYRA Yachting Agency collects the available documents, photographs and information about the yacht, her current condition and intended future use. We assess the initial potential of the project and prepare a preliminary vision of what the yacht could become, including the proposed direction, key changes and an initial visual representation of the result.
02 — Technical assessment, project scope and budget
Once the initial direction is agreed, LYRA Yachting Agency and Damen Maaskant begin a more detailed assessment of the yacht's technical condition and refit possibilities. The required investigations, engineering solutions and limitations are identified. Based on this work, we prepare the technical brief, preliminary scope of work, budget structure, timeline and any applicable survey, class, flag or operational requirements.
03 — Design development and project preparation
The agreed vision is developed into a coordinated refit project. Exterior, interior, technical systems, operational layout and specialist requirements are brought together into a clear production scope. LYRA Yachting Agency coordinates the owner's decisions and ensures that the project remains aligned with the agreed objectives, budget and intended use of the yacht.
04 — Logistics, arrival and shipyard handover
LYRA Yachting Agency organises the yacht's transportation to the designated port and coordinates loading, shipment, arrival and unloading. Where required, we also arrange temporary storage, berthing and the operational handover of the yacht to Damen Maaskant before the start of the shipyard works.
05 — Refit execution and owner reporting
Damen Maaskant carries out the agreed repair, refit and retrofit works. Throughout the project, the owner's personal LYRA Yachting Agency agent follows progress, coordinates decisions and provides structured updates at the main stages of the work. The project is documented through photographs, videos, reports and technical records, which are brought together into a dedicated refit book for the yacht.
06 — Final acceptance and delivery to the owner
LYRA Yachting Agency coordinates commissioning, inspections, sea trials and the resolution of outstanding items before final acceptance. We monitor the agreed schedule, support the owner during handover and organise the yacht's return transportation or delivery to the destination selected by the owner.

How is the yacht delivered to the shipyard?
LYRA Yachting Agency organises transport aboard a specialist yacht transport vessel, with the exact route and loading plan defined around the yacht's location, dimensions and condition.
Is the yacht charged for staying at the shipyard while waiting?
The shipyard stay is included as part of the LYRA Yachting Agency × Damen Maaskant partnership, for the full agreed queue and refit period, subject to the confirmed project terms.
Can the interior be completely redesigned?
Yes. The programme can include a full or partial interior refit. Selected projects may also involve leading European fashion and design houses, subject to availability and project approval.
Will the yacht's technical documents be updated?
Where the refit changes systems, structure, layout, weight or operating profile, LYRA Yachting Agency coordinates the required technical files, reports, surveys and submissions. Final approvals remain with the competent class, flag and authorised bodies.
Can the refit improve stability or seakeeping?
Potential improvements can be evaluated through engineering analysis, weight review, stabilisation solutions and sea trials. No improvement is guaranteed before the yacht-specific calculations and approvals are complete.
Can the programme support a five-year or ten-year survey?
Yes, where applicable. Damen Maaskant can support five-year and ten-year survey programmes, including drydocking, class-related works and inspection preparation. The final scope depends on the yacht, class status and competent-body requirements.
Does the project include a technical condition assessment?
Yes. A deeper technical condition assessment can review the hull, machinery, piping, electrical systems, outfitting, safety systems and available records before the final scope is approved.
How long will the refit take?
The schedule depends on the yacht's condition, scope, design and engineering work, equipment lead times, approvals and shipyard planning. A project timeline is developed after the technical assessment and scope definition.
